Video Poker is a popular game that can be gambled on in casinos across the globe, or alternatively at your house on your PC, using an Internet account. The regulations are absolutely straightforward and involve the player trying to get the highest assemblage of cards possible in order to acquire money. In this respect it’s very similar as a regular game of poker, minus the involvement with competing players. Of course, methods used in a physical game of poker, like tricking, will be irrelevant here.

The game of Video Poker starts when the player inserts credits (whether it’s tokens, tickets or money) into the video poker machine and presses the draw button. A hand of 5 cards will be "handed out" on the screen.

The Electronic Poker game also has hold buttons, and gamblers will need to now choose which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the player would like to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can choose to keep any amount of cards they wish, from all to none.

After the bettor has selected which cards he or she would like to keep, the player will then press ‘draw’, at which point any fresh cards are needed they will be dealt. The game is now finished, with the Video Poker machine scanning the cards to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands shown on the payment schedule.

Typically, the lowest succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money getting larger for each better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to 2 pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It should be known that the pay out schedule can change from machine to machine, so that knowledgeable gamblers are agile enough to choose the most profitable ones every time.

After the first round has finished, the player can either choose to continue on in an attempt to maximize their winnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any credits that might been won. Further, some styles of the game give the player a chance to increase their profits, in which situation a further game is played. There are also differences among individual games, with some virtual decks having wild cards and other varying characteristics to increase playability.
